If snacking was considered a legitimate hobby, it would definitely be listed under my ‘personal interests’ section. For me, those cheeky 11am and 4pm food breaks are an essential part of my working day and, considering I work from home and my desk is inches from the fridge, I find it hard restricting it to just a couple of times a day.

Therefore, it’s essential that I keep a stash of healthy, preferably homemade, snacks at easy reach, and these cacao and tahini bliss balls by Kimberly Parsons, founder of the Retreat Café, are perfect. Made with only four ingredients, they’re incredibly easy to create and they’re also good for you! Sweetened with dates, they are the perfect 4pm pick-me-up. This recipe makes around 12 balls.

Ingredients:

4 tbsp. tahini
350g pitted dried dates
4 tbsp. cacao powder
2 tsp. sesame seeds

Method:

Simply place the tahini, dates and cacao powder in the food processor and combine – continue until you’ve got a smooth, shiny consistency. Separate into 30g pieces and roll into balls.

Spread the sesame seeds on a plate and roll the balls over the seeds, flattening them into the balls slightly so they don’t fall off. Store them in the fridge for up to 14 days.

Enjoy!
